50919ed69f Fix lfs.attributes and lfs.symlinkattributes extra argument handling
When the second argument is not a string, _file_info() wants to
ensure that there is a table on top of the stack: the second argument
or a new table. If a new table is pushed it's created on top immediately,
but if a table is passed as the second argument it can be followed
by extra arguments, with the last one ending up being used as a table,
causing a crash. The fix is to remove any potential extra arguments
using `lua_settop(L, 2)`.

Also added a few tests for this case. Ref #80.

3789521838 Refactor set_info() using lua_setfield
About indentation: currently parts of lfs.c use 2 spaces
and parts use 8. It would be nice to slowly switch to one
of styles over some time, as code is being touched here and there.
2 spaces seem preferrable as it's what Lua itself uses.

ba6d0e1ad9 Have make_link() use pushresult() instead of pusherror() on Windows
The pushresult(L, -1, ...) call will delegate to pusherror() anyway,
but this avoids the "Unused static" warning for pushresult.

Also take care of assigning something meaningful to `errno`, as
strerror(errno) is used for constructing the Lua error message.

c315150aff Fix detection of closed files on Lua 5.2/5.3.
Lua 5.2 changed the protocol on how to represent closed files: Lua 5.1
sets the file pointer to NULL, Lua 5.2 sets the close function pointer
to NULL (a NULL file pointer now signals an incompletely constructed
object).
Also `luaL_checkudata` never returns NULL, it raises an error instead
if you have an invalid value (no userdata/not correct userdata type).

cc6007171b Fix. Prevents double close the same handle (#24)
lfs_unlock_dir can be called multiple times for the same object.
For example if lock:free is called manually.
Then lfs_unlock_dir will be called always
again, as soon as the LOCK_METATABLE is collected by GC.
This can lead to strange file errors later on, like closing
another file, which now has been assigned the same handle...

37c2309a40 Due to Android (and apparently Sun) not supporting getcwd(NULL, 0), I've changed to call to getcwd to specify a buffer and explicit size which successfully works around the problem. One minor performance advantage is that one less malloc/free is needed since the buffer is now created on the stack. Apparently, this was already changed in a prior commit I didn't see initially, but I think the use of an invented/arbitrary PATH_MAX is incorrect. Platforms should generally provide a constant for this and PATH_MAX itself is already defined on some systems like Linux which can cause collisions. This commit improves on those changes by leveraging the constants provided by the compiler/system.
To help keep the code consistent but still correct, new platform specific code needed to be introduced for the max length. On POSIX I am assuming it is that <sys/param.h> provides MAXPATHLEN. This is what the Mac/BSD man page says to use and verified this is also defined on Ubuntu Linux and Android. On Windows, MAX_PATH is used. MAX_PATH seems to still be 260 which seems kind of small; is there a different constant we are supposed to use? In both cases, the respective constants are mapped to a new #define for LFS_MAXPATHLEN to allow the code to refer to one constant and avoid any potential name collisions in case MAXPATHLEN is defined already by something else on Windows (e.g. Cygwin).

d21c4ae194 locking via lockfiles in posix systems. API:
lock, err = lfs.lock_dir(path, [seconds_stale])
  Creates a lockfile (called lockfile.lfs) in <path> if it does not
  exist and returns the lock. If the lock already exists checks it
  it's stale, using the second parameter (default for the second
  parameter is INT_MAX, which in practice means the lock will never
  be stale. To free the the lock call lock:free().
  In case of any errors it returns nil and the error message. In
  particular, if the lock exists and is not stale it returns the
  "File exists" message.

<p>LuaFileSystem is distributed as a pair of C source and header
files. The distribution provides a <tt>Makefile</tt> prepared to
compile the library and install it. The file <tt>config</tt> should
be edited to suit the needs of the aimed platform.</p>
<p>LuaFileSystem follows the <a href=
"http://www.keplerproject.org/compat">package proposal</a> for Lua
5.1, therefore this package should be "installed". In other words,
if you are using Lua 5.0, the files <tt>compat-5.1.c</tt> and
<tt>compat-5.1.h</tt> must be used in the compilation and the file
<tt>compat-5.1.lua</tt> must be installed in the <tt>LUA_PATH</tt>.
If you are using Lua 5.1, nothing should be done.</p>

<h2>Introduction</h2>
<div id="content">
<h2><a name="introduction"></a>Introduction</h2>
<p>LuaFileSystem is a <a href="http://www.lua.org">Lua</a> library
developed to complement the set of functions related to file
systems offered by the standard Lua distribution.</p>
<p>LuaFileSystem is free software and uses the same <a href=
"license.html">license</a> as Lua 5.0.</p>
<p>LuaFileSystem offers a portable way to access
the underlying directory structure and file attributes.</p>
<a name="reference"></a>
<h2><a name="building"></a>Building</h2>
<h2>Reference</h2>
<p>
LuaFileSystem should be built with Lua 5.1 so the language library
and header files for the target version must be installed properly.
</p>
<p>LuaFileSystem offers the following functions:</p>
<p>
LuaFileSystem offers a Makefile and a separate configuration file,
<code>config</code>,
which should be edited to suit your installation before running
<code>make</code>.
The file has some definitions like paths to the external libraries,
compiler options and the like.
</p>
<ul>
<li style="list-style: none"><a name="attributes"></a></li>
<p>On Windows, the C runtime used to compile LuaFileSystem must be the same
runtime that Lua uses, or some LuaFileSystem functions will not work.</p>
<li><b><tt>lfs.attributes (filepath)</tt></b><br>
Obtains the file attributes. The attributes are:
<h2><a name="installation"></a>Installation</h2>
<div style="margin-left: 2em"><i>dev</i>, device inode resides
on;<br>
<i>ino</i>, inode's number;<br>
<i>mode</i>, inode protection mode (<small>values could be
<tt>file</tt>, <tt>directory</tt>, <tt>link</tt>, <tt>socket</tt>,
<tt>named pipe</tt>, <tt>char device</tt>, <tt>block device</tt> or
<tt>other</tt></small>);<br>
<i>nlink</i>, number of hard links to the file;<br>
<i>uid</i>, user-id of owner;<br>
<i>gid</i>, group-id of owner;<br>
<i>rdev</i>, device type, for special file inode;<br>
<i>access</i>, time of last access;<br>
<i>modification</i>, time of last data modification;<br>
<i>change</i>, time of last file status change;<br>
<i>size</i>, file size, in bytes;<br>
<i>blocks</i>, block allocated for file; (Unix only)<br>
<i>blksize</i>, optimal file system I/O blocksize; (Unix only)<br>
</div>
<p>The easiest way to install LuaFileSystem is to use LuaRocks:</p>
Returns a table with file attributes described above. <a name=
"chdir"></a></li>
<li><b><tt>lfs.chdir (path)</tt></b><br>
Changes the current working directory to the given
<tt>path</tt>.<br>
Returns <tt>true</tt> in case of success or <tt>nil</tt> plus an
error string. <a name="getcwd"></a></li>
<li><b><tt>lfs.currentdir ()</tt></b><br>
Returns a string with the current working directory or
<code>nil</code> plus an error string. <a name="dir"></a></li>
<li><b><tt>lfs.dir (path)</tt></b><br>
Lua iterator over the entries of a given directory. Raises an
error if <tt>path</tt> is not a directory. <a name="lock"></a></li>
<li><b><tt>lfs.lock (filehandle, mode[, start[,
length]])</tt></b><br>
Locks a file or a part of it. This function works on <em>open
files</em>; the file handle should be specified as the first
argument. The string <code>mode</code> could be either
<code>r</code> (for a read/shared lock) or <code>w</code> (for a
write/exclusive lock). The optional arguments <code>start</code>
and <code>length</code> can be used to specify a starting point and
its length; both should be numbers.<br>
Returns a boolean indicating if the operation was successful; in
case of error, it returns <code>false</code> plus an error string.
<a name="mkdir"></a></li>
<li><b><tt>lfs.mkdir (dirname)</tt></b><br>
Creates a new directory. The argument is the name of the new
directory.<br>
Returns a boolean indicating whether the operation succeeds or not
(in this case, an error string is returned too). <a name=
"unlock"></a></li>
<li><b><tt>lfs.unlock (filehandle[, start[, length]])</tt></b><br>
Unlocks a file or a part of it. This function works on <em>open
files</em>; the file handle should be specified as the first
argument. The optional arguments <code>start</code> and
<code>length</code> can be used to specify a starting point and its
length; both should be numbers.<br>
Returns a boolean indicating if the operation was successful; in
case of error, it returns <code>false</code> plus a string
describing the error.</li>
</ul>
<a name="example"></a>
<h2>Example</h2>
<pre>

<code>lfs.attributes(filepath)[aname]</code>, but the table is not created
and only one attribute is retrieved from the O.S.).
if a table is passed as the second argument, it is filled with attributes and returned instead of a new table.
The attributes are described as follows;
attribute <code>mode</code> is a string, all the others are numbers,

<code>nil</code> if there are no more entries. You can also iterate by calling <code>dir_obj:next()</code>, and
explicitly close the directory before the iteration finished with <code>dir_obj:close()</code>.
Raises an error if <code>path</code> is not a directory.

<dd>Identical to <a href="#attributes">lfs.attributes</a> except that
it obtains information about the link itself (not the file it refers to).
It also adds a <strong><code>target</code></strong> field, containing
the file name that the symlink points to.

<dt><a name="touch"></a><strong><code>lfs.touch (filepath [, atime [, mtime]])</code></strong></dt>
<dd>Set access and modification times of a file. This function is
a bind to <code>utime</code> function. The first argument is the
filename, the second argument (<code>atime</code>) is the access time,
and the third argument (<code>mtime</code>) is the modification time.
Both times are provided in seconds (which should be generated with
Lua standard function <code>os.time</code>).
If the modification time is omitted, the access time provided is used;
if both times are omitted, the current time is used.<br />
Returns <code>true</code> in case of success or <code>nil</code>, an error message and
a system-dependent error code in case of error.

<dt><a name="unlock"></a><strong><code>lfs.unlock (filehandle[, start[, length]])</code></strong></dt>
<dd>Unlocks a file or a part of it. This function works on
<em>open files</em>; the file handle should be specified as the first
argument. The optional arguments <code>start</code> and
<code>length</code> can be used to specify a starting point and its
length; both should be numbers.<br />
Returns <code>true</code> if the operation was successful;
in case of error, it returns <code>nil</code> plus an error string.
